The National Independent Flag Dealers Association is proud to announce collaboration with The Tunnel To Towers Foundation, and judging by 9-11 First Responders, for NIFDA’s 2021 Free Photo Contest #USAflagspotter.
Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization founded by Frank Siller, to honor his brother, fallen firefighter Stephen Siller, who ran from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001.
For 20 years the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has honored Stephen’s legacy by supporting the heroes who continue to risk life and limb in the line of duty. The New York-based foundation assists families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty pay off their mortgages, nation-wide.
The selfless spirit of Firefighter Stephen Siller, and countless first responders, have motivated thousands of people across the country to volunteer within their community to benefit the greater good, inspiring others to help their fellow man, thank a veteran, or just fly the American Flag on their home. The American Flag embodies the spirit of these American Heroes, creating a living memorial for the fallen.
It is this humanitarian spirit that NIFDA recognizes as Patriotic values, all woven within the fabric of the Stars and Stripes. This Photo Contest is a testament to that spirit and designed to bring about awareness and appreciation for the American Flag to unify and bring hope to all walks of life.
September 11th, 2001 represents a poignant time in American history, when the entire nation became unified under one symbol, The American Flag.
To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001, we are pleased to include First responders from 9-11 to share their stories, reflections and interpretations of what the American Flag means to them.
